SERVE @ Worship

It takes the church community to help with all the different aspects of worship—making certain worship is welcoming and runs smoothly. TODAY is the best day to sign up for June, so that we have time to prepare our worship calendar and create reminders. Adults and youth are welcome and can serve in many ways:

  • Acolytes
  • Coffee servers
  • Communion servers
  • Nursery helpers
  • Ushers
  • Treat providers

Sign up right now on your device at 1stlu.org/serve or use the tablet at the Welcome Center and see Kathryn Pedretti, our Director of Servant Ministries, with any questions.

Mission Trip Meetings

Update meetings are scheduled this month for participants in the middle school and high school mission trips.

  • High school trip to West Virginia: 11:30am on Sunday, May 22, for students only.
  • High school trip to Colorado: 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, for students and parents.

Thank You Choir!

Thanks to all the members of the choir who dedicate their time and share God’s gift of music with the congregation! Thanks also to director Todd Saner for his leadership! Enjoy your break, and we’ll look forward to hearing you again in the fall.

Thank You Sunday School Teachers!

We give thanks to all those who taught and volunteered for Sunday School in the 2015-2016 term, sharing God’s message with our children. We also thank Sunday School superintendents Sheri Betz and Tawni O’Rourke for their work and dedication.

Little LEAPs

This group is for parents/guardians and their children ages birth to 3 years old, and meets the last Sunday, at 9:15am in room 102. We sing, dance, play, and pray together to learn ways to raise our little Christians in the home. We have time with the kids and time with just the adults. During the adult time, we have volunteers come in and play with our children as we talk. We welcome newcomers all the time — join us on May 29!

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

We will celebrate our many volunteers at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic from noon to 2pm on Sunday, July 24, at Rowe Park. Mark your calendar!

Provide a Chair at the Table

All year we have been talking about how God shows up when we Come to the Table. As we renovate the Fellowship Hall, where milestones, meals and more happen, we need new chairs to safely rest upon our new floor. Please consider making a special gift to the Fellowship Hall Fund. A quality banquet chair costs about $75, but gifts of all sizes are, of course, welcome. Thank you for providing a “Chair at the Table.”

Nursery Attendant

First Lutheran Church, Onalaska, is seeking a part-time nursery attendant for children younger than 5. Times might include Sunday mornings but would mostly be for evenings. Call 608.783.2236 for more information.

Clothes Closet

With the changing seasons, the First Teen Clothes Closet is getting ready for summer. We welcome donations of shorts, short-sleeved shirts, sandals and swimwear. We also still need boys’ jeans, particularly in sizes 32x34 and 32x36, and girls’ leggings. Please hold on to your winter items until the fall, as we have limited space for storing out-of-season clothes.

Welcome Baskets

Members of First Lutheran, the Welcome Basket Team is looking for your help. We would like to include in our baskets items from our congregation. Items like knitted or crocheted dishcloths, scrubbies, or other homemade items. We would also like to include area business coupons, business cards or other small promotional items. If you have a business you would like to promote in our Welcome Basket or an item you would like to donate, please let Kathryn know. Give her a call at church, or e-mail if you are interested or have any questions. Call 608.783.2236 or e-mail at kathryn@firstlu.org.

VBS: Mark your calendars!

Plan ahead to be here for Vacation Bible School this summer August 7-11. We will need teachers and helpers to make it a success. Please consider being a part of the fun adventure. Let Becky Runde know if you are interested in helping in some way. You can reach her at vbs@firstlu.org or 507.259.0295.
