The week of May 1–7 families, friends, small groups, confirmation small groups and Sunday School classes have the opportunity to pray for neighborhoods, schools, playgrounds, businesses and our whole community.
This year’s prayer walk can be done anytime during the week, so it can easily fit into your calendar. Get a group of people together and for half an hour to an hour pray for your neighborhood or someplace you would like to pray for in Onalaska. Then continue the fellowship with ice cream cones, playing in the park, sliced watermelon or having a cookout at someone’s house. Make it a special event for your group, enjoying each other’s company and finding the privilege to pray for our community. We are called to pray for everyone, as I Timothy 2:1 says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for everyone.” A prayer booklet will be available to help with ideas to pray for specific needs and cares of the neighborhood. A children’s sheet will be available with prayer ideas also. If you have trouble walking, sign up to pray in your car for certain areas that are not conducive to walking but still need our prayers. Make this a special time with family and friends. We encourage you to join us in our prayer walk and watch the power of God work in our community.
If you have any questions or any ideas you would like to share about the prayer walk, please let Kathryn know. Talk to me anytime, at church, or e-mail me at email@example.com. And remember that anytime you pray for our community, it’s a good thing.
