OWLs Potluck

On Wednesday, Feb. 21, the OWLs, a group for those 55+, will have their February potluck at noon in the narthex. In conjunction with the OWLs’ potluck, First will host a “Before the After” class for all members of the congregation. The presentation will begin at 12:45pm and serve as the OWLs’ program that day. Participants have been invited to bring a dish to pass and join the potluck. “Before the After” is a planning tool to be used by anyone, any age, to outline their wishes, prepare and organize pertinent documents and eliminate possible tough decisions for your loved ones. The program will last two hours and is presented by Causeway Caregivers in La Crosse. Questions? Contact Brian Narveson at

Clothes Closet Needs

It’s still winter in Wisconsin, and this month’s most needed items are:

  • Winter coats/jackets, especially for guys
  • Winter boots

Thanks for helping us keep our guests warm!

Welcome Baskets

Welcome baskets are a way to welcome a new neighbor into your neighborhood. The baskets are a gift bag tied with a bow, filled with some goodies from church and from our community. They are available to sign out at the Resource Center across from the church office.

Helping Hands

If you need help with small jobs around the house or if you need a couple of meals or groceries delivered, just go to the “Helping Hands” board by the nursery and make out a slip with a description of what you need help with and your telephone number. Then anyone who thinks they can help out can take the slip and call the number to work out the details. This ministry is open to all in need of help AND to those who can provide the help. There is no set group of “helpers” so we need involvement from all who can be a blessing to someone else. Thanks!

We offer several new-member sessions each year to acquaint new members with First and a small group of other newcomers. People who would like to become members of First Lutheran are invited to a 3-week introduction to the church, presented in a small-group setting. The group will meet in the evening on Apr. 15, Apr. 22, and Apr. 26. To register your family or ask questions please call our church office at 608.783.2236 or email
