By choosing to become a member, individuals and families commit to being part of a shared mission — and in one way, answer Jesus’ call to “come follow me.” We get to know you and can more easily provide you with ministry opportunities and invitations to offer your gifts to the rest of this family of faith. People who would like to become members of First Lutheran are invited to a three-week introduction to the church, presented in a small-group setting. The group will meet on these days in 2017: April 30, May 7 & May 11. Please call the church office at 608.783.2236 to sign up.

Mabel Anderson Scholarship

Applications are now available. Completed applications are due no later than 11:30am on Sunday, April 30. Students may apply if they will graduate from high school in the spring and have plans to pursue post-secondary education. The application includes writing an essay and completing a worksheet that reflects the student’s involvement in church activities. Application forms are available at or in the church office during office hours, M-F 8am-4pm.

CAN YOU HELP a seminary student and his family?

Drew is in his first year at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque. This summer, he will be in La Crosse, working in one of the hospitals, while doing his clinical pastoral education. Drew and his family (wife and two children) need housing from the end of May through the first half of August and would be very grateful for help finding a place. If you have any leads or can provide housing yourself, please contact him at or 605.690.8332. Thank you!

NEEDED: Sheets

The First Lutheran quilters need sheets (gently used) and can always use fabric. Donations may be dropped off at the church office.

Sugar Creek Horse Project

Camper fees at Sugar Creek Bible Camp cover only 73% of the cost of camp. Monetary gifts are vital to the camp’s operating budget, and you can help by donating through the Sugar Creek Horse Project. Look for the horse on the bulletin board outside the church office. Give $20 to Sugar Creek and put your name in one of the squares.
