OWLs Post for January 2017

The OWLs had a fun and exciting December. We started the month with a wonderful Christmas concert at English Lutheran by the UWL combined chorus and orchestra. We finished with a Christmas feast and games at the potluck. A great time was had by all.

The first part of January is normally a time of rest and dealing with the letdown of the Christmas season being over. The OWLs are going to give you a break from eating stale Christmas cookies and packing away all those decorations. At the Christmas Potluck, it was decided we will do another movie outing in January. The date of this fun outing will be Friday, January 6. To avoid night driving during our darkest month, we will meet at 11:30am at the church, then proceed to a local establishment for a delicious lunch. Lunch will be on your own. After lunch, we will attend a matinee at the local cinema. Seniors are only $5 on Friday. The movie we will see cannot be determined until closer to that date. So we know how much space to reserve at the restaurant, please contact Brian Narveson at 608-526-9700 or owls@firstlu.org by noon Thursday, January 5, if you are planning on attending.

The January potluck will be a week early on Wednesday, January 11. Please mark your calendars. We will once again be blessed with Ron and Frieda Nowland for our program. They will be presenting a new program “Where Do Angels Come From”. Ron is an excellent speaker with great stories and insight. Bring your favorite winter food to share. Festivities will begin at noon and we will meet in the fellowship hall so they can use the projector.

Look forward to seeing everyone in January.

The OWLs are a group at First that welcomes anyone, First Lutheran members or not, who are 55+. For information or to ask questions, contact Brian Narveson at owls@firstlu.org.
