It’s a relaxing way to volunteer! Thursday, September 27, at 9am, to assemble the October newsletter. See you there!
Our September Potluck will be held on Wednesday, September 19th at noon in the Narthex. Our program will be a special guest, our very own Pastor Jason. He will give everyone an update on the recently completed Capital Campaign and conduct an open session of “Ask the Pastor”. It is your opportunity to bring any questions you have about church programs, worship, staff, finances or congregational needs you would like him to be aware of. Don’t be bashful, he is genuinely interested in your questions and feedback. Thank you to Artie Van Riper and Peggy Quasius for hosting the potluck during Brian and Mary’s absence.
The OWLs are a group at First that welcomes anyone, First Lutheran members or not, who are 55+. For information or to ask questions, contact Brian Narveson.
A reminder to all members that First Lutheran is a latex- and nut-free campus. Please do not bring food containing nuts or nut butters of any kind onto the church campus. This is for the safety of all of our members. Thanks!
All are invited to a time of prayer for those affected by the floods. The service will be at Coon Valley Lutheran, 1005 Central Ave, Coon Valley. Hosted by La Crosse Area Synod congregations & St. Mary's Catholic Church (Coon Valley). Click here for more info.
The quilts on display in our narthex were created by members of First Lutheran and will be donated to Sugar Creek Bible Camp’s annual quilt auction fundraiser, which is on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10am. There will also be a crafts fair and 5K trail run and fun walk starting at 8am.
Please see the Sugar Creek website for information and registration forms.
In just 2 weeks in our new location, the Clothes Closet has hosted more than 40 teens—we knew the need was there and are so glad we can meet it! But that means our needs are great, also. Here’s how you can help—drop off the following gently-used teen items in the church entry donation bins:
- Wallets (men’s and women’s)
- Socks (new)
- Leggings (new)
- Sports bras (new)
- Body wash and other toiletries
Or ask at the office about volunteering to assist in hosting the Monday night shopping hours.
Thank you for your continued donations, prayers and support!
VBS was a huge success this year with 80 children participating! We also had many youth leading and parents getting involved with their children through the activities!
Our congregation’s children lived fully alive through games, crafts, lessons, music and dancing!
Thank you to all of you who volunteered… Beth’s already looking forward to next year!

First Lutheran has installed and stocked a Little Free Library on the 4th Avenue side of the building. We thank Logan, Gavin, Mason and Jaxon DeNault, sons of Amanda and Jason DeNault, for donating the library and lots of books to get us started. If you’re not familiar with Little Free Libraries, the practice is “take a book, leave a book,” but you don’t have to leave a book
to take one.

A group of First Lutheran members have initiated a new Faith Alive mission. Their goal is to “keep-in-touch” with our fellow members who are home bound.
The visitation team will keep Faith Alive with phone calls, home visits or by mailing notes to remind “at home” members that our church loves and cares about them.
Please notify the church office using the form below if you’re aware of an individual or care giver who is either long or short-term home bound.
