All Saint’s Day has long been a day when the church gives thanks for all the saints, the beloved, who have died, especially in the past year. In the coming weeks, we will be asking for photographs of your beloved dead so that we can be surrounded by their witness on All Saint’s Day, Friday, November 1. These pictures can be sent electronically (email@example.com) or brought in. They will be printed as 4X6, so resolution should be such that they can be printed well from what you submitted. If your loved one was a member of our congregation and died this past year, you will receive a letter with a special request.
All Saint’s Day isn’t only about those who have died but also about those who have been newly baptized. If your child was baptized this past year, you also will receive a special request.
Please note, we will continue to use the photos submitted last year, so no need to resend those photos.
All of our lost and found items are on display in the narthex. Please take the time to look them over, and take any items you might have lost. Any items left on Thursday will be donated to local charities.
It’s a relaxing way to volunteer! Friday, Sept. 27, 9am, to assemble the October newsletter. See you there!
Teens come in all sizes, but unfortunately, most of our current inventory of donations is limited to XL and smaller. If you have items to donate that are 2X and larger — for guys or girls — and in styles teens might like, we would love to have them! Donations of gently used, clean clothing may be dropped off in the hampers located in the church entry. Thank you for helping us make all teens feel good about how they look!
We invite all staff of our local schools, universities & colleges to join us this Sunday, August 25, for worship and a special blessing to start off the new academic year.

Our goal is to assemble 500 kits before school starts. Bring donations to the altar before/after worship or during offering. For more information contact Bridget Crave.

Numerous times a week the Bethany Riverside residents play Bingo. Many of you help with Bingo on a regular basis, and it is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. In case you didn't know, once a month Bethany Riverside opens its "Bingo Bucks Store." The residents can spend their Bingo Bucks from winning Bingo during the month. Bethany Riverside tries to have a good assortment of small items and snacks, but has a very limited budget for these items. If you are able to help out, know that the residents would be very grateful!
The synod needs volunteers for the Synod Assembly, June 14-16, held in La Crosse this year. In addition to wearing red vests, volunteers play an important role in making the assembly run smoothly, starting with registration on Friday evening and throughout the Saturday and Sunday sessions. This a great opportunity to meet members and clergy from other ELCA congregations in our synod, participate in worship and prayer throughout the three days and feel the satisfaction of helping the mission of our church.
To volunteer or to learn more, contact Betty Sacia at 608.799.2796 or via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking for people available during the week to help staff the nursery for a few hours, in particular Tuesday mornings and on other days on an as-needed basis. Contact the church office: email@example.com.
There are opportunities to serve as a Sunday School teacher and a leader in VBS:
A Sunday School teacher is a 1-2 weekend a month commitment in which you connect with our congregations children! It is super easy with the curriculum!
VBS is another way to connect, this is so fun and is high energy! If you like to play games or would like to help organize or help in anyway please consider!
Join us at First Lutheran for Easter worship this Sunday at 7:30am, 9am and 10:45am.
Parking will be tight on Sunday, so feel free to use the parking lots at city hall and at Irving Pertzsch Elementary School. Parking on the street is also an option, available on all sides of the church property.
