One Year Plan
Ever wanted to read the whole Bible?
WHAT: A year-long Bible study through the entire Bible, lead by Pastor Stanton, who posts thoughts to consider for your reading, Monday–Friday.
FOR: Any and all ages, stages and geographical locations! This would be a great practice for kids, couples and/or families to do together!
There is always a great time to jump into the Bible!
From Pastor Stanton:
I want to bring a daily Bible study into your internet machine. I’ll post a 3-5 minute video Monday through Friday on Facebook and Youtube. By the end of 12 months we will have read through the whole Bible, having read for about 15 minutes a day. We will be using a chronological reading plan where we read some Old Testament and some New Testament 5 days a week. You will be able to access the study whenever you want each day. It will mostly be just me reading your questions/comments or pointing out something interesting. Missed one? Catch up the next day or on the weekend.
Bible Readers Deep Dive:
Genesis
Pastor Stanton posts a 5(ish) minute ‘lesson’ 5 days a week, for 8 weeks, diving deep into the book of Genesis. That’s 40 lessons on ONE book. He uses Walter Brueggemann’s Interpretation commentary, which is pretty much the authoritative commentary on this foundational work. It is NOT necessary to purchase it, but for any who thinks they’d like to read along, it can be purchased here. Each day Pastor Stanton will invite participants to read a bit of Genesis and journal three things: a ‘heart’, a ‘star’ and a ‘question mark.’ This is similar to reading scripture in a lectio divina way… What do you love? (heart); What surprised you or seems extra? (star); and what questions arise in this section? (question mark).
Bible Readers Deep Dive: Exodus
Join Pastor Stanton online for 5–8 minutes per weekday for "Bible Readers: Pivotal Moments in the Book of Exodus." We'll use Walter Bruggemann's two books, Delivered Out of Empire and Delivered Into Covenant to explore how certain phrases or moments in scripture demand our attention and can change everything.
Bible Readers Deep Dive: Revelation
Join Pastor Stanton online for 7-10 minutes per weekday for a study of Revelation. He will read the Rev. Dr. Barbara Rossing's excellent book, The Rapture Exposed, as well as the Rev. Dr. Craig Koester's commentary, in addition to M. Eugene Boring's commentary… so you don't have to!
