For our June outing, the OWLs (our Older Wiser Lutherans at First, for anyone 55+) will be attending a La Crosse Concert Band performance in Riverside Park. on Wednesday, June 25. The theme for the La Crosse Concert Band performance will be “Celebrating American Composers.” The concert will feature works by Aaron Copland, Samuel R. Hazo, Larry D. Daehn and more, with Dr. Corey Pompey as the guest conductor. Expect a mix of patriotic, classical and contemporary American compositions that highlight the rich musical heritage of the country. Sounds like a fantastic evening by the river. We will meet at the church at 4:30pm. and have a fine dinner at David Reay’s before heading to the park. Bring a folding lawn chair if you don’t like to sit on the park benches. The concert is free and dinner is on your own. Don’t miss this wonderful summer evening of great music by the river. If you would like to attend, please reply by email or call Brian Narveson at 630-816-5917.
The OWLs are a group at First that welcomes anyone, First Lutheran members or not, who are 55+. For information or to ask questions, contact Brian Narveson.
