Simply Giving Online

First wants to make supporting our mission easy for members. That's why we are excited to announce that you can now manage your giving online. Giving online is easy, secure, and allows you to set up automatic recurring contributions and view your complete online giving history from anywhere you have access to the Internet. Simply follow these easy steps:

  1. Click on the Give Now button above

  2. Click on the Create Profile button

  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to create an online profile and to schedule your one time or recurring contributions

Note to Simply Giving members prior to November, 2015: if you set up Simply Giving before November, 2015, via a paper form from the church office, you will need to cancel this method of giving before you create an online account. Please contact the church office by email or call 608.783.2236 (during office hours, 8am–4pm M–F) in order to cancel your current Simply Giving withdrawals so that you can set up Simply Giving online.

Increasing/Changing Your Giving

One of the benefits of setting up scheduled automatic giving is that you can make changes at any time—whether it be the amount, frequency, or date—from any computer or phone, without having to contact the church. But it may not seem straightforward. The steps below are provided to help with that (note: these steps assume you have created a profile as outlined above)…

  1. Click on the Give Now button above

  2. Login to your profile (on a computer the login is in a box on the upper right of the page, on a phone you will need to press a button in the upper right of the page)

  3. Once logged in, you should see two lists: the first for My Scheduled Transactions and the second for My Transaction History. Since we want to edit our scheduled automatic giving, we are going to look under the first list My Scheduled Transactions; depending on your previous choices, you will see a list of the ministries you have scheduled to give to. The most common ones are the General Fund and the Our Church + Our Time Capital Campaign. In addition to the ministry you are giving to, it will list the amount, the account you are giving from, and the frequency.

  4. To edit your giving, look in the row of the ministry you are giving to, and to the right of the frequency there is a column for Actions, with a link to Edit. Click on the Edit link.

  5. On the page for editing donations, you will be able to change the amount you give to each ministry, and how frequently you’d like to give.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What if I’d like to change the date that the giving occurs? To do that you will need to delete your previous giving (a Delete link for this can be found under the Actions column, next to the Edit link), and then create a new scheduled donation but pressing the Add Transaction button near the top of the page.

  2. What if I’d like to give to the General Fund and Capital Campaign at different times; for example, to give to one monthly and the other yearly? To do that, you will need to create two transactions. To schedule your donation for each, simply press the Add Transaction button near the top of the page for each donation.

Give by Text

You can now make a contribution to First Lutheran with a quick text message.

  • Simply send a text to 608.422.4771 with the amount you would like to contribute. Make sure to include the dollar sign before the amount (example: $25).

  • Within a few minutes, you’ll be sent a text with a link to register. Click on the link and enter your cardholder name and credit or debit card information.

  • Once your registration is complete, you will receive a text verification and a receipt via email.

  • For future giving, simply send a text with the amount you wish to give and it will process automatically; no need to enter card information and register a second time!

Charges are not sent to your mobile provider, but to the credit card that you set up during the one-time registration process that follows your first give by text.

  • Assist or #Assist: Sends instructions to the donor via text.

  • Edit or #Edit: Allows donors to edit their name, payment method, address and email.

  • Repeat or #Repeat: after you've made a donation to make it recurring

  • Schedule or #Schedule: to set up a recurring donation if you have yet to make a donation via Give by Text
