All 8th & 9th grade confirmands are required to sign up for AT LEAST 3 elective classes. If the class you are most interested in is full, there are plenty more to choose from.
Spring 2026
March 4: “Women Can’t Be Pastors, the Bible Tells Me So” - Pastor Karyn. Biblical Interpretation: Many traditions still do not ordain female clergy in 2026 because of the way they interpret Scripture. Find out how Lutherans interpret God’s Word.
March 11: Sabbath: Even Here - Pastor Stanton. Restlessness makes neighborliness nearly impossible. Why God commands rest.
March 18: The Lord’s Prayer - Pastor Stanton. How does the Lord’s Prayer matter 2,000 years after it was first taught?
March 25: Genesis 15: When Faith Was Born - Pastor Stanton. Learn about the extraordinary story of Abraham being the first human to embrace the promises of God.
April 8: Making the 10 Commandments Relevant in 2026 - Pastor Karyn. The commandments aren’t simply something to be memorized by Sunday School classes. They are able to shape communities, including ours. See how our day to day lives are affected by God’s 10 commandments.
April 15: Lutheranism: A Way of Seeing - Pastor Stanton. Learn about how God meets us on the Cross, of all places.
April 22: Lutheranism: A Way of Hearing - Pastor Stanton. Learn about how God remains with us through the “Living Word”
April 29: Lutheranism: A Way of Teaching - Pastor Stanton. Learn about some things that make Lutherans distinct from other Christian traditions.
May 6: Lutheranism: A Way of Following - Pastor Stanton. Learn about the “So What” of faith: Vocation (with an ‘o’).
May 13: Art and Prayer - Pastor Karyn. “Prayer” is not just folding your hands and closing your eyes while kneeling. Join Pastor Karyn as she expands the possibilities for how we can enter into prayer with God using art as an example.
