OWLs Fly to Old School Variety Show

The OWLs plan for February is more good times with great food. We will start with an outing on Saturday, Feb. 16, to the Pump House to see the “Old School Variety Show.” The show harkens back to a time when people created their own entertainment. At one time there were no movie theaters, no radio and no television. Entertainment was always live. On a Saturday night, your family and friends would gather in the parlor and someone would play the piano, someone else would recite poetry, your cousin would play the banjo and your uncle would do magic tricks. This show recreates that experience. It’s fun, it’s live… it’s old school. Before the show, we will have dinner at one of La Crosse’s fine eating establishments downtown. We will meet at the church a 4:30 PM on Feb. 16. Cost of the theatre is $18, and dinner is on your own. The Pump Theatre events usually sell out. They recommend buying tickets two weeks in advance to ensure a seat. Please email (owls@firstlu.org) or call (630.816.5917) Brian Narveson by Monday, Feb. 4 if you plan to attend.

The OWLs are a group at First that welcomes anyone, First Lutheran members or not, who are 55+. For information or to ask questions, contact Brian Narveson at owls@firstlu.org.
