2023 Synod Delegation to Peru
Hola potential Peru travelers!
Have you filled out an application for this trip? Members of our synod can apply to join our synod’s delegation to visit our sisters and brothers of the Iglesia Luterana del Perú (ILP) in late July–early August of 2023. Bishop Felix Malpica will lead the delegation and the process for choosing and preparing delegates has begun. Applications are due in the synod office no later than Nov. 21, and interviews will be held in early Dec.
How it All Began: In 2003 Bishop Emerita April Larson and Pastor President Adita Torres met during a leadership conference and talked about a companion relationship that might develop between the La Crosse Area Synod and the Iglesia Luterana Evangélica Peruana. From this conversation we began a journey that has enriched both of our churches for almost twenty years.
Many joys and tears have been shared during that time, and the name of the Peruvian church has even changed, but our churches continue to accompany and support each other. This companionship has grown and strengthened over the years, and in 2023 the La Crosse Area Synod along with the ILP will be celebrating 20 years of walking together as Companion Churches.
